Dell Vostro 430a - Not your garden variety Dell system
With Dell desktop computers, they tend to follow a trend as far as design goes...
1. Dell branded power supply and motherboard
2. Limited compatibility with some off-the-shelf components... in some cases, nearly impossible to do a motherboard swap on (to a non-Dell motherboard)
And once in awhile, you'll see a Dell system model that defies all that logic. Instead of having Dell-branded power supplies and motherboards, the power supply will have the real OEM's brand on it (HiPro, LiteOn, Delta, Bestec, etc), and the board will sometimes have the real OEM brand on it. On these systems, the BIOS will differ from the typical Dell BIOS. These systems may also be 100% compatible with a drop in motherboard upgrade - all ports on the case will work... all mounts will be correct, etc. These are not your garden variety Dell offerings. The Vostro 430a is one of these odd systems.

Alex Smith : I have this exact PC as my work machine, and it's great. It's got an i5 at 3.3GHz, 6GB RAM and a 300GB 10k velociraptor drive. The performance is very good and it runs perfectly. The 460 and 470 desktops were also very good, with the latter having an M.SATA slot.
augged : Thanks for the info, I have a Dell Vostro 430a. Just this weekend I was able to transfer all the guts into a new tower. The front pins do work in an custom case (Reverse L shape) pretty much follow the pattern from the original case. One thing I noticed with the new case rear 120mm fan while connected trips the system alert fan failure, because the original 80mm fan with the sensor is not running. You should be able to swap those fans depending on your case mounts or just hit F1 and to resume startup and you're golden. One other thing for others reading, you only have 1 system fan 3 pin connector on this board. If you have multiple case fans, you can pick up a molex 4 way fan splitter for your PSU or a 2 way splitter for the mobo. Cheers!
[deleted] : Dell machines have gotten significantly more standardised over the years. The last systems to use nonstandard power supplies were the early Pentium 4 systems like the Dimension 8100/8200 and Optiplex GX400. They switched to standard front panel connectors by 2007 (with the introduction of the Inspiron and Studio lines to replace the Dimension) and around that time they let their power supply manufacturers put their own name on things. By 2012/2013 they went back to using Dell-branded power supplies, but not much else has changed since.
They still seem to make their own boards with their own BIOS for the OptiPlexes and all laptops, but the consumer desktops seem to use off the shelf motherboards with Award BIOS or a clone thereof. That might explain the switch to standard front panel connectors.
Paianis : Only problem with this PC is that the retention plate for the expansion cards (the protruding part from the back of the case) can't be used with brackets that are slightly misaligned with their cards or misshaped. Obviously a proper chassis would fix that.
andre : I didn´t know before that Dell is so compllicated with changing Hardware :/ Luckily i have buyed the exact same Computer 2 weeks ago and today i have upgraded the PowerSupply to 630Watt Bronze Plus and installed a GTX 970 Asus Strix. I was searching if i can upgrade my bios to uefi and by searching this i found your Video ^^
