My Sony HD-EG5 External HDD stopped working so I disassembled it and I found a Seagate 500gb 2.5" 5400rpm inside it.

Sony External hdd cost more than any other External hdd.
and inside it has a cheap Seagate (seagate have more annual failure rate) hdd which is died.


Update : I tried this hdd in my PC via SATA and found that it is working, but going to die very soon. I thing the SATA to USB 3.0 converter was defective in my case.

So i suggest if your External HDD is not working. Disassemble it and try it directly via SATA on PC.
Sometimes it may happen that your hdd is working but SATA to USB 3.0 converter is not working.

Sony HD E1 External Hard Drive Unboxing & Hands on

1TB hard drive from Sony, with USB 3.0 connectivity. It comes with Backup Manager, Data Transfer Accelerator, FAT32 Formatter, Password Protection Manager for the support apart from the great speeds I got for file transfer.

Have used hard drives from the three companies - Western Digital, iOmega and Seagate and have not got a great experience, losing about 200GB data (personal photos) and unable to recover them.
