jafeir : Hordy's never actually experienced the racism of humans, he just grew up in a bad area and was taught to hate humans by the fishmen who DID experience it. He's doing all this because he wants to .Because he swallowed everything he was told as a kid without having anything else to learn from or even bothering to think outside of that. That's what shocked Fukaboshi, the fact that Hordy is doing this is proof that the Royal family has NO IDEA what's going on in the slums of their kingdom

They never experienced any of it, but it was all they would hear.

Not to mention the fact that they idolized these people, with Arlong being the worst of them, and never had a reason to doubt their beliefs. So it’s an empty rage that wants to lash out at everything that isn’t like itself.
Maybe it’s more of Hody just being a prick at heart and I’m just spouting bullshit, but that’s what it seems like to me.
GreyFensir Wulf : Only Rob would actually like Hody Jones and claim he beat Zorro lmao.
Holy Knight : Hody is the starter villain you fight in a game after reaching a new chapter. And just like them, you forget them until you attempt it again after finishing the game with zero damage.

The damage is then done because of the inertia. If it hits something like a sheet of paper before reaching the target, it will go through of course. It's okay to hate people for things they done to you & those close to you in the past, feeling those emotions are natural, but what's important is not passing on empty hate to future generations cause you'll just create Monsters like Hordy who are feuled an empty flame & will continue fighting in a war that's already been finished.

And I think today a lot of people forget that hate breeds hate breeds hate. It’s cyclical and doesn’t ever end well for any of the parties involved. This is was Queen Otohime was scared of. Sometimes people’s motivations don’t have a reason behind them and that’s extremely scary and dangerous. Arlong has hatred because of what humans did to his friends and loved ones and fishman. Hordy has hate cause he was taught and the environment he grew up in. Essentially, he probably would be exactly like the celestial dragons if given power. He’s already mimicking them with the human slaves and wanting to kill anyone (fishmen included) who disagree with him.
@heykenzo4284 : It's a bit shocking because, previously, every villain had a past and motivation. Because that's how good characters are written. You give a logical reason with emotional weight to be the backbone of their actions... But that's not always the case in real life. Sometimes, a persons genuinely evil to the point of cartoonish exaggeration.
Greed, pride, fear, hunger... All of these things are primal needs that all beings feel in different levels. But *Hatred*? That's not something that is supposed to exist in a vacuum. You need a reason to hate, you need a base for it. But Hordy? He's hating for hatred's sake and that's not normal. It's REAL, which makes it all the more scary, but it's NOT NORMAL. And this is shocking to the prince because he was raised in the family he was raised in. He knows what hate feels like because his mother got shot, but having the family and upbringing that he had, a hatred like Hordy's was unfathomable.
